What is Stable Moments?

Stable Moments (R) is a mentorship program curriculum that uses equine assisted learning and community mentors to improve the life course of children impacted by early developmental trauma. This program pairs one child with one mentor & one horse for an hour each week at the farm. This team of three works on life skills like: responsibility, self-esteem, healthy relationships, emotional awareness, and self-regulation.

What does a session include?

There is no “typical” session. Each session is child led and lasts 60 minutes. Participants can choose from any activity, within reason. If they are interested in it, we will try to make it happen! Typical activities include art, board games, sports activities and creating things like slime and bracelets. Each session includes some activity with their horse and can include their horse 100% of the time if the participant chooses. Among other things, horse activities can include:

  • Grooming

  • Leading

  • Obstacle Course

  • Training Games
