Barn Buddies

Our Barn Buddies program serves individuals ages 3 to 13 with a diagnosed disability. Participants enjoy therapeutic horseback riding and a wide variety of activities!

Barn Buddy Sidewalker

Sidewalkers make each participant’s experience GREAT! As a sidewalker, you will be with your assigned participant from start to finish of their session each week. You will guide them through their chosen farm activities and walk along side them as they ride their horse.

You’d be our ideal sidewalker if:

  • You can commit to same day and time for about 4-6 weeks

  • You are mentally present, playful and eager to learn

  • You are reliable and consistent in building a relationship with your assigned kiddo

  • You can be physically active for an hour and walk in sand footing for at least 30 minutes

Stable Moments

Stable Moments is a long-term mentoring program for foster and adoptive youth.

Stable Moments Mentor

Our mentors meet weekly with their participant under the supervision of a Stable Moments instructor. They will help facilitate a learning activity, connection activity and transition activity each week with their participant and horse. (No riding)

You’re an ideal mentor if:

  • You are available same day/time for 4-10 months at a time

  • You are patient, curious, non-judgemental and reliable

  • You are open to being around and working with horses

Farm Help

Our farm includes around 15 equines at all times and lots of other furry friends (sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, bunnies…) Our Farm Helpers assist our farm manager as needed with animal and farm management tasks

Farm Help Wrangler

Being a Wrangler means you’re allowed into the paddocks at Justin’s Place and can groom, tack, and lead without supervision. This is a safety measure to be sure every person on our property has been properly trained to remain safe in a variety of situations.

You’re an ideal Wrangler if:

  • You have a minimum one year direct hands on experience with horses within the last three years

  • You feel confident with a variety of situations and horses

  • You are gentle but confident around animals

  • You are task oriented and enjoy things like manual labor and cleaning
