Who can attend:
Therapeutic Vaulting is for children ages 6 to 12 who have a diagnosis of a disability or disorder affecting their overall mental, physical or emotional health.

Lessons are typically once per week on the same day and time. Seasons of lessons run 5-10 weeks at at time.

Lessons cost $45 per 60 minute lesson.

This program is small group oriented and requires a certain level of independence and safety awareness not required in other programs. Children must be at least 6 years old and able to follow at least 75 % of directions.

Vaulting is supported by a trained vaulting coach who is responsible for overseeing the safety of all vaulters and horse activities. A trained lunger is responsible for directing the horse. Trained volunteers help support through instructing stations or sidewalking as needed. There may also be times an instructor rides with a vaulter to spot, for example, when learning to stand on the horse.

What does a lesson include?
Lessons start with group activities on the ground incorporating stretches, breathing or exercises to warm up. Vaulters will complete various activities utilizing toys, ground balance beams, a personal trampoline, mats or vaulting barrels. Vaulters learn basic positions called the compulsories on the barrels before trying them on the horse. Each lesson includes time on the horse working on balance, body awareness and compulsories or freestyle moves. As vaulters progress, some groups may work towards creating freestyle routines put to music. Below are some of the benefits we have seen in our participants:
