More Than a Field Trip: Come Experience the Magic of Justin’s Place 🐴🌿
What if your next field trip wasn't just a day away from the classroom?
What if it was a chance for kids to get curious, try something new, connect with animals, learn something hands-on, and experience the joy of being outside on a farm?
That's what we're creating at Justin's Place.
Our beautiful farm in Wilmore gives children an opportunity to step out of their everyday environment and into a place where learning can happen through horses, animals, movement, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
And yes…there will probably be some dirt involved. 😉
Kids Learn Differently When They're Experiencing It.
We LOVE teaching kids about the amazingness of horses.
There's something different about learning when you're standing beside a real horse instead of looking at a picture in a book.
How big is a horse?
What does a horse eat?
How does a horse communicate?
What does it take to care for an animal?
Why do horses live in herds?
What does it feel like to groom a horse?
Kids don't just hear the answers.
They get to experience them.
Our field trips are designed around hands-on learning and interaction with our farm environment, giving children the opportunity to engage their senses, ask questions, and discover something new. Justin's Place specifically offers field trips as part of our community education programming.
And the horses aren't the only teachers.
Our farm is home to more than just horses.
Depending on the experience we create for your group, children may have opportunities to interact with some of our other animals and explore the farm environment as well.
We've seen firsthand how quickly a child's curiosity comes alive when they encounter an animal up close.
A child who might not be particularly excited about a traditional classroom lesson may suddenly have a LOT of questions when standing next to a horse.
That's the kind of learning we love.
We Can Build the Experience Around YOUR Group.
One of the things we love most about hosting community groups is that there doesn't have to be a one-size-fits-all field trip.
Our Community Programs are intentionally designed to allow us to develop experiences that fit the needs of the group we're serving. We've hosted groups such as FFA students, Girl Scout troops, school staff, and others—and we can build an experience around your group's interests and goals.
Maybe your students are studying animals.
Maybe you're looking for an agriculture experience.
Maybe you're teaching responsibility and animal care.
Maybe your group needs a chance to get outside and simply experience something joyful together.
Tell us what you're hoping your students will learn or experience, and let's see what we can create.
A Field Trip They'll Talk About on the Bus Ride Home
We've watched children arrive at the farm unsure of what to expect and leave completely captivated by an animal, an activity, or a new experience.
We've watched kids discover that they LOVE horses.
We've watched nervous children find their courage.
We've watched children who couldn't stop talking about the animals.
And we've watched the farm become a place where kids can simply be kids—curious, playful, connected, and present.
Our Stable Moments Mobile students give us a beautiful example of what can happen when children have the opportunity to experience the farm after learning about horses for months. During one field trip, 23 students from three elementary schools spent four hours at Justin's Place riding, learning, and interacting with animals. Some children wanted to ride, some wanted to lead a horse, and some preferred spending time with the bunnies. The freedom to interact in different ways created opportunities for each child to experience joy and confidence in their own way.
That's the kind of experience we want every child who visits Justin's Place to have.
Bring Your Group to the Farm!
Whether you're bringing a classroom, youth organization, homeschool group, club, or another community group, we'd love to talk with you.
We'll work with you to create an experience that combines education, animals, hands-on learning, and a whole lot of joy.
Because sometimes the best classroom doesn't have four walls.
Sometimes it has four legs. 🐴
